i finally got my certificate and pin yesterday in recognition of having worked at my store for five years. my five year anniversary there was in may, but they always give out the awards at the holiday meeting, or in the case of years when we dont have a holiday meeting, whenever the district manager is there.
i know i complain, but it really meant a lot to me. |

arthur fiedler, longtime conductor of the boston pops, said that there were only two kinds of music. good music and bad music. i know i agree with this sentiment, but who gets to judge? |

there is a part of me that thinks that about a week before the election, barack obama will start quoting the national.
i know he can't say he's "the great white hope" but he CAN say "i won't fuck us over, i won't fuck us over, i won't fuck us over, i'm mr. november, i'm mr. november." |

i just went for an hour bike ride and all i can think about is the fact that someone (ie: me and only people deemed appropriate) should be able to get no-limit hunting permits for humans and/or make murder a fifty dollar fine. |

today i am doing this:
Raftin/Ridin' Roundup: Sunday, June 8 (10:30) - What better way to spend the day than to see the park from two distinctive viewpoints. In the morning you'll go on a guide led horseback trail ride in one of the more remote areas within the park and in the afternoon you will be paddling through the deepest section of the gorge. In between, you'll be treated to a delicious chicken barbecue prepared especially for the group. This trip will fill quickly so be sure to get your reservation in early. Meet at the Wolcott Farms Site Office, near Trailside Lodge, Letchworth State Park. |

so today i am working from 8:30 until 5, and then a little bit later, bethany and i are supposed to go to dave and busters for lindseys (sp?) birthday extravaganza. i worked last night, and i am pretty exhausted.
in other news, bob couldnt get the part he needed for my car yet, so he gave it back to me for the weekend. i really just need to go from here to work, and work to bethanys, and bethanys to home, and home to work, and work to home. that'll get me until sunday night. i'll bring it back in sometime on monday, although bob isnt back to the shop until tuesday. i'll be driving moms car on tuesday.
i am so tired i wish i could just crash. |

pretty quiet night in the store. did have one interesting conversation with a customer though. he asks me if we've got any seasons of arrested development, and then goes on to ask me if there is anything that's kinda like it. the answer is no, but i suggested larry sanders, mr. show, entourage, and lucky louie. the guy tells me that his old friend jim norton was on that show. the conversation went as follows.
him: "my buddy jim norton was on lucky louie. we used to hang out a lot when i lived in new york. see, i'm a writer and a lawyer. jim's a pretty weird guy, a whore monger just like me, but a really picky one."
me: "jim norton is picky? the guy who's always talking about hooking up with fat women?"
him: "well, not really fat women, just women with big tits. see, norton likes women with big fuckin titties, flat stomach, big round ass, nice legs and a pretty face.. and that'll talk to him."
me: [laughing]
him: "yeah. norton's a good guy."
so that was that. until he's checking out, and he tells me that they had to delay the publication of his book for an extra year because jay leno sued someone and he had to remove a ton of quotes from the book. he says to me... "you should check out my website, bachelorsbible dot com, i think you'd like it. i just sell the complete unedited book on there."
dude was a total nutjob but the conversation was hilarious. |

| | lowest of the low // henry needs a new pair of shoes | ] | so, i dont have to go back to work until a week from monday. things have been going pretty well there, it still feels a little bit like mary is on vacation, and not really gone. i dont know when i will actually realize that she's gone for good.
i bought an old stereo of jeremy's today. it's an old shelf system, three discs, and a place for me to plug in an auxiliary so i can play my ipod through the stereo. this'll keep me from having to burn everything i download that i wanna listen to in my room. i visited bethany before meeting him, it was nice to see her, even though it was only for a couple of minutes. |
